"These images are not your photojournalist-type pictures. I was not a photographer in the war. Many of the photos were taken in the jungle, while I was on point for the 'Hawks' recon, as well as Christmas art work that was done in country. They seem 'more real' to me.
"Most of the images have both a literal and a symbolic interpretation. It was not intended at the time of photographing, but the situation seems to have dictated the final meaning."
