Hau Nghia

By Marc Jason Gilbert and James Wells

Marc Jason Gilbert, a student of Vietnam counterinsurgency policy since 1966, is attempting to make sense of that policy and the overall war effort by viewing it though the eyes of Jack Wells, a counterinsurgency specialist who served in Vietnam in 1962 and again in 1965 as a member of John Paul Vann's Hau Nghia Advisory Team. James Wells, Jack's son, is attempting to better understand his father's two tours of duty in Vietnam, known to him largely through the many letters his father sent home to his family from Southeast Asia.

Both are eager to hear from veterans of the "other war" who might wish to comment on this work in progress or share their experiences.

Marc Gilbert can be reached via the internet at: MGILBERT@nugget.ngc.peachnet.edu
