Message is: I am trying to find anyone who served with my brother CPL. George Allen Alford Jr. He left the MARDET of the USS Galveston and volunteered for duty in Nam. He arrived in Vietnam on June 25,1968. He joined 3rd Platoon of Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment of the 1st Marine Division. He was a squad leader, but I don't know which squad. He was involved in Operation Houston III in the vicinity of Thuc Thien on June 30,1968,in Op Houston IV and in Operation Mameluke Thrust II in Quang Nam Province near An Hoa. It was in this last OP that he was killed in action on 31 July 1968. I have tried to find anyone that might remember him but have had no luck. He was my only brother and I really want to know more.

Message is: I'm writing this on behalf of my friend Lester Whitney of Kuna, Idaho who was wounded during a mortar attack on March 11, 1964. while tdy to a Marine unit (he don't remember the unit). He woke up aboard the U.S. (Marine) hospital (US Hope) ship off the coast where he remained until the ship docked in Japan where he was then taken to Kashini Barracks Hospital. He was originally assigned to Co A 304 Signal, Camp Conner, Korea then went TDY to the phillipines and then to Vietnam where he was assigned to assist the U.S. Marines (teach them how to operate the big 45k + generators). He was in country from January until he was hit on March 11, 1964. He was Army attached to the Marine Corps. He recently applied for VA assistance but has been turned down because there is nothing in his records that indicates he was ever in country. I've seen his wounds and I know they are real. If anyone can remember the incident please let me know (he doesn't have a computer), the hospital ! has been closed down and his medical records do not indicate his wounds. Thank you for your time. Wounded squad leader ordered his squad to leave them behind and pursue the NVA. Found by squad of non infantry transient volunteers who came out from gate to help. Joined by third squad lead by Lt.
