Message is: My name is Kathy Stevenson, a Veterans Advocate. I am trying to assist a Marine Veteran in proving that he served two tours in Viet Nam. I have his Itenerary listing of the tim he served, but it only goes to 1963. when we wrote to the National Records Cener, up to this point was all I was able to get. His discharge Papers say that he was last Honorably Discharged in 1966. The rest of the papers say that he went from Subic Bay, PI on July 30, 1963 and on Sept 14 1963, wound up back in Subic Bay, Paris Island. It shows that he departed for Southeast Asia on 28 August 1963 and arrived on 12 September 63. He was sent their to build a bridge in An Hoa, Monkey Mountain. After this, is all the date information that we can come up with. The VA is turning down his claim because they say that just because it says that he served in Southeast Asia that it does not mean that he served in Viet Nam. Monkey Mountain is 35 miles from Da Nang. The bridges that they built ! was built over the Highway and was called the Tu Cau Bridge. they wee sent there for this purpose, but he served two tours, he did engineering work, among other duties including security watch.
