I have always wondered what happened to this Marine pen pal and have spent years searching for him. I have not found him. I was to meet him in the summmer of 1970, but never heard from him after his tour of duty was over in 1970. I married in 1970 and checked repeatedly with my parents for word from my pen pal, but I never heard from him. Message is: Frank Casey and I were college classmates and studied for the Priesthood at the same time. He later attend Columbia or Fordham journalism school (as I was told). He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marines. He was killed in action in Quang Ngai province, Vietnam on October 30, 1966. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. There are some of his classmates who are trying to find out what happened when he was killed. We have been looking for him for 34 years. His name is not on the wall and we have a news article on him stating he was wounded three times, twice in the DMZ zone of Vietnam. Because of a recent illness I have had time on my hands to travel back to a lot of memories of childhood friends etc. I am active in theater, but also have written one novel,and several screenplays and articles, some published, and am planning another one, somewhat autobiographical. The long and the short of it is, one of my more colorful adolescent mates was Billy Clarke, who I last encountered when he became an enlistee in the U.S.Marines. That was some thirty-five years ago. I know he had a brother, Michael, who was not in the service, but we all lost touch soon after Bill joined up. That's all really - I always wondered what happened to Billy over there ( I assumed he survived, because I believe I would have been notified otherwise.) And with my own travels (1972-74 spent as a world traveler: Bangkok, Penang, Vientianne,Laos,etc.) we simply drifted apart, as young men are wont to do.
