Message is: My father was a pilot with the Air Force for 20 years, flying KC135's. He volunteered for Vietnam and was trained in T28D's and sent to Vientiene, Laos. He was officially based at Udorn, Thailand. His plane crashed shortly after take off from Vientiene and crashed in the Mekong River. We did not receive any remains. He was Major Robert C. Miller, he went by Bob or "R.C." and had a yellow and white leather cap with the Royal Crown Cola insignia on it. It was given to him by some of his fellow squadron pilots when we were stationed in Amarillo, Texas. Having been told by the Air Force that we could not discuss any of where my dad was,we have been completely ignorant of anything to do with his situation, what when on, or what really happened. I found out recently that he would have had to have retired from or gotten out of the military and been working for the CIA with Air America. But he was active duty with the military. We were told he was the Commander of t! he 56th Special Operations Wing at Vientiene. There was a C130 that circled the area keeping an eye on the crash site until ground rescue could begin, but it was typhoon season and river was too much to handle any attempt. (So we were told!) Anyone who was there or hopefully new him would be an angel. Thank You
