This black granite monument lists the 58 Monroe County men Killed-In-Action in the Vietnam War, plus the one and only MIA, Melvin C. Dye, who lived in Carleton when he was drafted into the US Army in 1966. The very first name on the granite, Leo Abarmowski, was the very first man to be killed from Monroe County. Captain Norman W. Heck Jr. was the second.
