We had both planned to go to OCS. He was trying to get into MI OCS and I was going to Infranty OCS. Message is: The reason I am searching for anyone who served with me in Vietnam especilly during our Units service in Tay Ninn Providence I have been being helped with my PTSD at the Augusta VA. It was my provider who said it would be of great help to me if I could relate to any member of my unit who was with us doing a Firefight on Nov. 13th 1968. We were attacked at around 8:30 PM we received word that we had a large enemy force moving in the area where we were. Our LP's Radioed that we had movement. We received 3 fresh Grunts earlier that week with us. It was I who put them in a foxhole and told them to stay put and be alert. I went to the Mortar crew and help with them they were short handed as we were hit. After receiving small arms fire and B40 rockets they broke contact. I went to bring in Dust off for wounded and KIA.With flash lights i guided them in received some fire. After all were picked up it was then that I found out the 3 I placed in the foxhole were killed by rocket attack. My platoon leader came to me and recommeded me for the Silver Star. I told him no don't do that. Now I realize its not m! y fault they were killed. Please help If you can

Message is: I was in the 518th Signal Co. at Ft. Bragg, NC prior to being sent to VN. The company was divided up into detachments. Since I was a platoon leader (LT) in the 518th, I was one of the detachment commanders (OIC) when my men & I arrived in country. We went to Nha Trang for training on the new radio equipment before we were sent to Pleiku for our duty station. The "Tropo site" was within the II Corps (ARVN) compound - also called the Special Forces compound. I have often wondered what happened to the place after I left in May, 1966. I've heard that some of the men were killed in a sachel charge attack but nothing confirmed. I assume that all the equipment was shipped out or destroyed before all US troops pulled out... no confirmation of this either, however. Also no idea what happened to the men who went to Pleiku with me... don't have their names right now. I was released from active duty when I got home. No further contact with anyone except LTs in other Signal unit! s who had no info about my site or men. Anyone who has info about this site or the men - please contact me. Thanks!
