Thanks to the internet, and searching for hours it's obvious why we had no more contact thru the years: headstone (picture) located; details say dod; 12/27/1972; SP5, US Army, Vietnam. His parents were 'older', he was an only child; and I'm sure it just killed them both when he died. Prior to the Army claiming him, in addition to going to college, he played in a band; interest in music probably stayed with him. I'd be interested in any info - or hearing from anyone who knew him. What I find REALLY odd is that, well, I've gone thru countless websites, lists of vets, lists of casualties, lists of POW's/MIA's, names on the Wall + add'l names and NEVER found Claude's name listed. Also, is there some way I can find out HOW, WHERE, WHEN and what he died of?? (Headstone is in a private, not military, cemetary.) I'm thinking his name should be added to The Wall, but I'm sure first will have to verify eligibility. Any tips on that would be appreciated as well. At this point, I'm just feeling really sad. For what once was, for what could have been but wasn't - and very, very angry. I was one of those that protested the VN war - I guess the protests should have been sooner, and stronger - too many senseless deaths. And nothing was learned from Vietnam - we're now repeating, and losing lives again, in mid-east, which makes me want to cry even more.
