Message is: I am hoping that someone will be able to tell me how to find out the name of my birth father. It's kind of a complicated story so I will start from the top. In 1984 when I was 18 years old, a man from the VA showed up at our house and informed me that I would be getting a sum of money from my father who died in Vietnam. That was a complete shock to me because I was never told that the man who raised me and apparantly adopted me was not my birth father. I was so shocked that I do not even remember if I was told or given any thing with my birth father's name. From the age of 18-21 I was assigned a fiduciary who would send money for a "good" reason if I asked for it. At age 21 I was given the remaining lump sum. I know my name or my mother's name must be on someones paperwork with me as a beneficiary because the man from the VA knew where to find me. I have asked my mother for more info but she won't talk about it. My mother is from Germany and I was born there on Aug.7,1966. The town where my mother lived is Giengen ad Brenz. I was born in either Heidenheim or Ulm, Germany. My mothers maiden name is Doris Heidrum Junginger. My nam! e is Anthony Michael Kenneth Turner. Turner is my adopted father's name. I am almost 40 and have two boys of my own.Up until recently I hadn't given this subject too much thought. I figured since I don't even know the man's name, I would not be able to search for any info. I am hopeful that with the info I can provide about myself and my mother that someone can at least point me in the right direction or know in which database my name popped up on when I turned 18. Message is: 33 years ago my mother adopted a little girl and put my name as her father. For 33 years she's been asking who is her real father is. From what I asked around the father is a GI and stayed in Udorn for more than a year. While he was there he had a maid or a thai girl either coming in daily or staying in for cooking and cleaning. And over the year they had a relationship resulting in she became pregnant. I don't know that he knew about the child or just didn't care but when the maid gave birth to my daughter the GI was gone. The maid couldn't take the baby back to her family bacause she already married and the idea of bring a strange baby back to her real husband was out of the question. Out of desperation she handed the baby to my aunt and in turn handed the baby to my mother. And that's why she is calling me dad. Sound really sad but it's true. Right now my daughter is living in Bangkok and turn out to be a beautiful lady. The half american and thai complextion mak! e her stand out more. Message is: 10/14/05 Our compound came under attack June 7-8,1969 at night. The next morning CPT. Beegle sent the MP's and others from the 526th outside the perimeter to look for enemy kills. On the way back down the side of the mountain we jumped from one ledge to another. In doing so, I landed hard and fell backwards hurting my back. You carried me back to the compound and drove me with another soldier to the nearest Field Hospital. Afterwards I was placed on two weeks light duty in the CQ with another soldier (first name) Tyson. I have been trying to establish a claim with the VA since 1979. Was denied then and reopened another claim 04/07/2005. I need a buddy statement in support of my claim. If you can remember this incident I sure would appreciate your support. I have serious back problems from this injury. My unit consisted of MP's and to the best of my memory SGT. Atyphoon hit and a day or two after typhoon the Lrrp team was caught in an ambush on way out and killed. Message is: My dad's job was to transport supplies from Quin Nhon through the pass to An Khe to the 1st calvary helicopter fighting division. They would unload and transport KIA's from An Khe back to Quin Nhon. During that route they would often come under sniper fire. A man brought his wife to meet my dad a few years back and said my dad saved his life. They talked most of the day but my dad decided not to keep in touch that it would just keep the memories alive.
