Message is: This is a long shot...Looking for a guy nicknamed Crazy John (don't recall the last name) and William or Bill Smith (Smitty) Both served with the Americal Division, 196th LIB, 4th/31st, Charlie Company, 3rd Platoon, 3rd Squad. Jim gave me a Celtic cross which I have worn since. I still have the letter that I wrote to him. It was returned with a letter saying he was reported deceased on 13 June, 1969. The letter I worte to him is still unopened. Message is: I need to find Linton Mcgarvey. Linton and I gave aid and assistance to an American soilder named Bartak who was mortally wounded by a fellow US army serviceman named Knowles. Both were stationed on Firease Birmingham at the time of the incident in 1969. I was contacted by the Army CID approximately 1971 regarding this incident. I was the corpman/medic who attended to private Bartak along with LInton McGarvey, during the incident I declared Bartak deceased. I need help and in confirming this incident as part of a post tramatic stress diorder claim.Again this incident ocurred on Firebase Birmingham in 1969.Please respond.
