The year following my birth, mom and dad divorced. I never saw or talked to my dad until I was 13 years old. We moved to NC and my father lived in MD. My mother let me spend two summers with him. Dad was killed in an accident after our second summer together. So, the only memories and knowledge I have of my father are the time we spent together over two summers and what my mom has told me (which is both very little and inaccurate!). I have recieved a copy of dads military records from St. Louis. Mom told me that dad was NEVER in Vietnam, never in harms way, and she was upset because he recieved a military burial and headstone since he never REALLY served his country! The crazy thing is I found John's parents, they were so kind and understanding then his mother passed away soon after we met and his father soon after her. So I was not able to gain very much information. Her children kept everything of John's. I did find out that Johns father used to take him to a restaurant called Cap's. My family owned and ran that restaurant and every saturday they would set at the counter and John would play with a dark eyed little girl and tell his dad he wanted a little sister that had eyes like him...little did he know he had one and was playing with her every Saturday...It was me ! Message is: My name is Randy Clark. I am looking for anyone that was assigned to 41st Port Construction out of Long Binh during Nov 68 through Oct 70. I was from Ohio and was known as 'Red CÆ because there were two of us with red hair and he was called æRed whatever his initial wasÆ. I lived on the 1st platoon pile-driving barge and was a lead climber. I am trying to find anyone who knew me or served on that boat. If anyone has any pictures of our company flag, emblem, etc, or any pictures of the unit please contact me. (mailto:bobbiekayc@wmconnect.com) IÆm especially interested in knowing if anyone can remember the hill across the highway from our company area at Long Binh that the VC had tunneled into and from which they attacked the perimeter ôone nightö. After a night of fierce fighting that included big guns, Cobras, napalm, bombers and fire from the perimeter, by morning the hill was gone. We were told later that there were 200-300 VC in that hill. Does anyone remember the stench for months after that attack? If so, do you remember when this occurred or have any pictures of it? Also, does anyone remember the crane tipping over with two men on the leads? One came up and one didnÆt. Again, any dates or pictures? Does anyone remember the crane operator unloading too many I-beams from the left side of the supply barge and it flipped over. If so, can you tell me what you remember (where, when, pictures) and how did we recover it. If you were on that boat, do you remember the evening we were test firing our 50-cal and a tracer went astray and killed a little girl in her hooch? Do you remember what happened after that and what we did and had to do? If so, could you please tell me what you saw, what you heard, what you felt. Does anyone remember pulling guard duty at night on the boat, shooting anything floating up or down the river (boxes, logs, bodies, whatever) to protect our boat from floating mines or booby-traps. Remember dropping concussion grenades every so often to ward off any submerged swimmers that just might be planning to do us harm (the barge that is). Message is: Specialist James Lane was from Odessa, Texas. He was among the first casualities in Vietnam. On July 15, 1962, he was a crew member (VHPA database) of six personnel on board a CH-21C. There were three crew members and three passengers, one was an Army LTC (advisor) and two unnamed Senior ARV officers. The flight was on reconnaissance mission and suddenly it began to receive fire. The helicopter was shot down and all Americans and one ARVN perished. Specialist Lane was award the Distinguished Flying Cross and immortalized by having a Barracks named for him at Fort Eustis, Virginia. In doing research for his biography, I wrote the museum and was informed that they have no picture of Specialist Lane, but are actively seeking one. I also would like to have one for the Permian Basin Vietnam Memorial located at Midland/Odessa, Texas International Airport. Anyone with knowledge to this individual or who may provide information as to how to contact family or perso! nnel that may assist in this matter would be appreciated.

Pitts, who also served with the Mapping Mission and then served in Vietnam, with the 5th Special Forces, as a Radio Operator, as far as I know. Message is: My husband died May 7, 1969, at Thua Thien, SVN. The government said it was an undetermined accident. They also told me there was an explosion (of unknown origin) at an ammunition dump. He was listed missing for 30 days prior to me being told he was dead. I received two separate dates of death, May 7, and May 6, 1969. Message is: Hieu is a friend who has expressed a great desire to see his father again. His father married his mother in Vietman around 1964 or 1965. Hieu also has a sister,Lien Ngo(born in 1969)and a brother, Thao Ho(born in 1970)by his father Bob Fish. His grandparents names were:Nanny, Nguyen-Thi-Thuan and Nanny, Nguyen Van Ngoc.Hieu has lived in the United States since 1990 or so. He remembers his dad and misses him a great deal. He lived near Hue. He said his dad drove a jeep, but doesn't know what he did or his rank. His mother is re-married and will not even tell Hieu what his dad's name was. Hieu's sister believes his name to be Bob Fish or something like that ( she got this from her Nanny).Hieu has two businesses and is doing well financialy. He doesn't care if his dad has been in prison or anything else. He would like to know him and wants his children(4) to know their grandfather. Hieu said his mother once mentioned that she had seen his father in Oklahoma. That is all the inf! ormation he has. I offered to help Hieu try to locate his dad, so if anyone out there has any information ,I would really appreciate some help. Thanks .
