At any rate, I am looking for a man by the name of Jim who had just returned back to the states in Oct. 1967 to the Los Angeles, CA area. He just returned from Vietnam and was in the Army. Message is: I attended the Artillery Assoc Advanced course at Fort Sill with Dick Feb-June 1960. I later heard that he was missing in action, but I have been unable to confirm that. I could not find his name on the Wall or in the books at the Wall. He told me he was from Kinston, NC. In the late 70s or early 80s I saw an article in the News and Observer (Raleigh) that his son was voted Jaycees young man of the year in Kinston. No one there seems to know anything about that either. There is a memorial to those from Lenoir County, NC who died in Vietnam. Dick's name is not on the memorial. If in fact it can be confirmed that Dick is still missing or has been declared dead I want to get his name on the memorial.

Message is: I have trouble remembering names but i will never forget his. The last time I seen Doug he was wounded by a booby trap, and i helped put him on a chopper to go to the hospital. I don't know if he made it or not, I would like any information I can get on him. we was real close over there. It has been so long I do not remember names but I do remember some of the nicknames, Speedy was one of our friends. Mason was the medic in our group. I need to coorespond with those people that served with SP4 Robert Tate from Ramona, Ok. Specifically, anyone that remembers the day Robert stepped on the land mine (mid July, 1969). I was point on a overnight patrol and during the return to camp the next morning, I stepped on a mine. Mason, the medic, bandaged me and we continued back to base camp. Message is: On April 29th 1970 as our platoon crossed a rice paddy "Wood" Volke was hit once in the chest by a young boy. I don't remember his real first name or the exact spelling of his last name but during his dust off the chopper was shot down. All on board were killed except "Wood". Another chopper was called in after the area was secured. By the time we got back to base he was on his way to Japan. No one got a chance to see him.
