Message is: I am attempting to locate the father of a friend. She is Vietnamese/American. Her mother's name is Mai Nguyen. The father was aware of the child's conception but was shipped out before her birth. The childs mother refuses to give the child any more information except the name of her father. The mother met Walter Chris Green in either Saigon or Vinh Long. He was a big man and possibliy of Hispanic decent. Walter was handing out supplies and knew her uncle. The only story the child knows about her father is that the uncle had given him some hot peppers to eat which made him cry. The young womans' name is Yen Thi Nguyen she was raised by her grandfather and aunt. She is about 29 years old. She would love to know if her father is alive. Message is: My grandmother's name is Dao Hay Thi Nguyen. She lived in Qui Nhon *spelling* Vietnam during the Vietnam War. She was around 12 - 14 (she cant remember that far back) Well she met an American soldier and they did their business. Then (if my recollection is correct) my great-grandfather made the two marry. But because my grandmother was very immature, she and my great grandfather (her father) kept laughing during the Christian? ceremony. The soldier and priest/minister got angry and said the marriage would never work. (that is all I was told about the wedding) On another ocasion, the soldier had a ring, I think they said it was a high school ring thing? My grandmother (Dao) stole it from the soldier and he got upset and delared that he wanted it back. She said no and my great aunt told me the next day he and his troop left. That was the last they heard from him. My great grandfather sold the ring for money as for the pictures of the two during the wedding were burnt because m! y great grandfather feared the communist would arrest the family if they saw my grandma married to an American soldier. My aunt's best description of the soldier was that he was white and tall around 6' - 6'5" His name began with a "b". My aunt thinks it is "Boris" The reason no one remembers much is because my grandma was still a child and so was my aunt. and my great grandpa didnt really care. Married a 14 year old Vietnamese girl named Dao Nguyen who was impregnated by him. The girl lived in Qui Nhon Vietnam behind a temple and a soccer field. Her mother's name was Mi and father's was Khanh Nguyen. The marriage took place after Dao Nguyen was pregnant. His troop left several months afterwards. During the wedding ceremony, Dao Nguyen's mother and father were laughing because they were not used to that type of ceremony.
