Message is: Any help is appreciated: His name is Fred Montoya, he went by the nickname "Lucky," was in Vietnam from late 1969 through 1970. I believe his rank was an E4 assigned to the AmericalDivision in Chu Lai/ Duc Pho. Known location LZ San Juan Hill, west of Duc Pho about 5 clicks with the 6/11 Artillery. But was not 6/11 Artillery, he may have been of the 6th Battalion, 11th Artillery, 23rd Infantry Division...but that part is just a guess. He was raised in the Philladelphia area, while he was in the service his family moved to South New Jersey, right after marrige, he moved some place in Kentucky, around 1975. I wish I had more to go on, but that's all I can provide. If anyone has any info for me, I'd really appreciate it.

Message is: Hi. I have a question and I hope you can help me. My husband Jack Harold Gustafson Sr. was a Vietnam Veteran. He recently died of cancer. March 2002. The VA said it was not service related. We have a friend who also served in Vietnam with the same exact kind of cancer that my husband had. I want to know where I can find out how many Vietnam Veterans have this type of cancer. Where can I go to find out. Please help me. The doctors said My husband had esophageal cancer which spread thru out his body to every organ he had and then his bones. It was in his liver, stomach, lymph nodes, back, ect... The doctors are not 100% sure that it started in his esophagus but that is where the biggest tumor was so they went with it. His death certificate said smoking could have caused this too. My husband did not smoke before he went to Vietnam. But the US government supplied him with cigarettes. He smoked about 3 packs a day and then quit 11 years ago. Then last May he was told he was termi! nal and they could only slow down the cancer but that there was no hope. What I am saying is that if smoking caused the cancer then the US government is still to blame for my husbands cancer. If agent orange is the cause and it has not been researched enough then I want someone to do more research. I know I probably sound like an idiot but I want to know. That is why I thought I could try to find out how many Vietnam Veterans had the same kind of cancer as my husband. I live in Waco Texas and I will continue to pursue this.
