In a book that Lt. James Parker wrote (called Last Man Out) he talked about Ayers. How he was a tenderhearted, nice, 18 year old guy. A guy that responded to praise, never complained and ultimately gave his life for his country. He also said that it always hurt Ayers during mail time because for some reason he never got any mail, despite the fact that he wrote someone every couple of days. I'm not quite sure why I'm on this quest to find out about him. Something about the way Lt.Parker describes him just keeps tugging at my heart. I wish I had been alive and know him during the 60's. I served in 3 trans companies while in country....The 597th(20 oct 66), the 64th Trans(10 Apr670 and the 88th Trans (6Aug67). I was the sent to FT.Devens Mass..I know faces and not names. I don't like that feeling. I remember sneeking to downtown Pleiku after dark, getting plastered and seeking back in to the co. compound WITHOUT getting shot. I was with others who were also lucky. Message is: I'm looking for anyone that was near the ARVN outpost of A-2 A-2 was on rt1 just below the DMZ....I am trying to locat any one that was with me ..or anyone that was on the op and saw Two AH-1(s) downed abt 2,000meters due west of A-2...this was abt Aug or Sep of 1970. was flight of THREE AH-1s and ONE UH-1, TWo of the AHs were lost to ground fire... ONE pilot(BACK SEAT) was captured. DoD/DPMO says there is no record of Cobras lost within a 20mi rad of the location, in the time frame I gave them. .....There may be NO RECORD ...But There was damm sure the loss! Have checked all the normal sources ....Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Assn... Left a message t the site for the 44th ARA.., But No one knows of this or at least is not talking! Have located abt 200 of the former F/26th personel and only one of them remembers _hearing_ abt it, but not who from. Message is: I have been troubled many years about an incident that happened in Vietnam. It concerns the shooting of a veteran that was called "Incarnation." I'm not sure if this was a nick-name or his sir-name, but it's all I have to go by. Incarnation was kind of a rebel, dope-smoken kind of guy. He was always in some kind of trouble for his marijuana smoking. One day one of the sargents was given an order to bring Incarnation to battallion head-quarters for some kind of disciplinary action. The sargent found Incarnation in the John. The sargent ordered him to come with him. When Incarnation hesitated, the sargent shot him in the stomach. Incarnation was medivaced out. I never knew what became of him. The reason this has bothered me so much is because I witnessed the shooting. I would like to know if Incarnation survived. Any information is appreciated.

Message is: Not very much info to go off of, I know nothing else trying to find a friend or so that knew my father, might have stories or pictures. He came back from the war okay and wound up shacking with my mother in Santa Clara, California. He was at work and got electicuted while trying to fix something, needless to say he passed away within the hour. Mom was just barely pregnant with me and she nor my father new of it. Thats how i came about, so this is why i am trying to find some other memories of him, i do have pictures of men i suppose he was stationed with dont know anything of these men and absolutely no info whatsoever.
