Message is: I am trying to find the members of my Company. I lost contact with them when I came out of the field and came down with Hepatitus at Cam Rhan Bay. The last time I saw anyone was when we had completed a mission helping out another unit, I believe with the 196th or 198th, and after we had won the battle, my best friends were killed by friendly fire. We had sat up a chow line, and the jets that were pounding the area in which we were engaged in heavy contact with Viet Cong outside Saigon, at the other end of the tunnel systems, where the Viet Cong infiltrated into Saigon. The last thing I remember is asking my buddy whether he wanted to go eat first or me? He went, and a few seconds later all hell broke loose. They had killed in all, I believe, 7 or 8 men, the cook, and my buddies. This is, I believe, somewhat of a unique story, and it must have occurred between June 1968 and July 1968. If anyone has any idea or has heard of such a battle, please let me know. You! may have either been with the 196th, 198t,199th, etc.
