Message is: I am looking for anyone that was with me during infantry training that remembers an incident sustained during hand to hand training (rear take down and strangle)I was a little guy 5'6" about 118lbs. My partner for the excercise was about 6'1" about 180lbs. The Drill Sergeant warned everyone not to say anything about the incident. I was hospitalized for ten days with a scrotum and back injury, and issued a permant L-3 profile. I stayed with the Army for 5 years and did two tours in Nam. Message is: My Father died a little over 3 years ago. He didn't talk about that part of his life very much and I respected that. Now he's no longer here for me to ask him and I don't know anyone who served with him or who might have known him at Fort Bragg. He finished Special Forces training in 67 at Fort Bragg and after his tour in Vietnam stayed in the Army as a reservist. I would really like to talk to someone who knew him during that period of his life. I'm still trying to come to terms with his death and with what he went through after Vietnam. I understand the clinical terms for what he and everyone else dealt with, but I would like to talk to someone who understands first hand and would be willing to talk about it and to maybe help me understand better. Message is: I can't remember Wilson's first name. We served together in Vietnam as company clerks for HHC Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Camp Eagle)-Phu Bai. We served together in Vietnam from September 1968 to September 1969 when he DEROS'ed home. I stayed 2 additional months to qualify for an early out. Wilson is from somewhere in New York. I remember he played high school footbal against Larry Csonka, and suffered a shoulder injury that required surgery. Wilson, I believed served 3 years total in the Army. I have been told that if i can get someone who served during this time to write me a letter describing the conditions we served under such as fire fights, attacks on us in compound etc that I will have a better chance of getting my disability. We know the Bien Hoa Air Base runways ran east/west and Camp Ray was on the north side of the runways, the air base facilities being on the south side.
