Message is: Klein was an 11B who carried a M-79. On November 20, 1966 while in the Plei Trap Valley, west of Pleiku, we were ambushed by a reinforced platoon (NVA-33rd Regt.). He and I were the only survivors in our squad. We were the point squad and tripped the bottom L of the ambush. He received a GSW arm. The others in our squad were McCalvry, Brown, Young, Messine. I had the radio. Klein 's use of his of his 79 saved the day. I believe he rotated back to the States I received a GSW L chest. I think he was from NJ or NY. Not sure.

Message is: My husband, Ron Walker, served as RTO in Co B 1st Bn 327th Inf, 101st ABN Div late 1971-early 72, and , C Co (Airmobile) 1st Infantry Bn, 7th Cav the rest of his tour. He was at Camp Evans, Camp Eagle,near Da Nang, Fire Base Maude, and Camp Charger, then later at Bien Hoa, Nua Chau Chan, and Grunt II FSB near Bien Hoa, as an RTO and toward the end as Company Clerk. In the jungle one day he lost the silver/turquoise cross given to him before he left for Vietnam. Later that day, still deep in the jungle, he found a silver St. Christopher's medal, about an inch across, hanging on a branch, I think he said near a creek. Message is: Tom Dunn was my supervisor in P.F.Collier in New York. Then he moved to Komer Company, also located in N.Y.C. I knew that when he went to Vietnam, he was only 17 years old. He was from Georgia and he was a police officer when he came back from Vietnam and finished his college. Then he moved to NYC and found an accounting job. Tom had PTSD problem and that's the reason I lost contract with him. I knew he was staying in a clinic in upstate New York, but have no knowledge where it is. Message is: This is really a needle in the haystack. I'm searching for my birthfather--I have no name nor proof that he went to Vietnam. This is what I know. He was born in Milwaukee, 1945. He was of German descent and Lutheran faith. He was 6'3" tall, weighed about 190 pounds, was a talented athlete and writer. He attended two years of college and was in the military at the time I was born, 1966. My mother's name was Joyce Popps and she was born in Chicago 1944. She had her bachelors degree in French. Her parents were schoolteachers and she had two younger sisters and one younger brother. I have already searched the database of casualties and came up with three men who could match my description. The battalion initially staged in Bearcat and on January 1967, we were sent to the Mekong Delta where we established FSB Rach Kien. Our (Area of Operation) AO was the entire Long An Province and border skirmishes in Cambodia. Upcoming reunion of all units of the 9th Infantry Division as well as the "brown water U.S. Navy" operating in the river-laced Delta. This reunion will be held in Ft Mitchell's Drawbridge Estates on July 2-4, 1999. The travelling mini replica of the Vietnam Wall will be displayed, participation in a parade to honor all units, camaraderie with former buddies after three decades and there will be other planned activities. Message is: I am looking for Steven Plant. We went to basic and AIT together. Our basic was at Fort Ord, Ca. in the year 66 or 67, I not sure of that though. We then went to Fort Polk La. for our AIT in "Vietnam training". I think they called the fort "North Fort" also "Tiger Land." We were there for about eight weeks. At the end of that time we got a 30 day leave. When we came back we where going to be shipped to Vietnam. I had decided to go AWOL because of my epileptic wife. The Army refused to be responsble for her welfare while I was gone. Steve as far as I know went. When we got picked up from LAX we dropped Steve off in Hermosa beach. We decided to keep in touch but I was on the run from the service and we never did connect. I later turned myself (1year) in and got a hardship from the Army and was released. I tried to find out what had happened to Steve, but I could not find his house. He told that he had been a life guard and a surfer. Steve stopped a DI from kicking me when I had fainted on a run at Ord and we became friends.

Message is: Looking for a friend of mine from the Arcata, California area who went to Vietnam in 1965. I wrote him during his entire stay and read all of his return letters in one of my high school classes. The only letter I still have is the first one I recieved on April 26, 1965 as he was finishing boot camp in Fort Polk, Louisiana. At that time he was in the 3rd, Training Brigade and was on 24 hr stant-by for Vietnam. He mentioned one other guy by the name of Lynn Miller who had a 65 VW that they used to tour around the south in when he had leave. His last letter was to tell me not to write again because he was coming home and would only miss my letter. I never heard from him again. I was told that he was killed but his name is not on the wall and I can't seem to find any information about what happened to him . I've been looking for him off and on for over 30 years and hope someone can help.

Message is: Looking for Larry PurDue who served with my brother, Martin P. Eastham in Vietnam. They went through medical school and jump training together in Kentucy and were still together in Vietnam. Larry wrote us a letter in 1966 explaining how my brother was killed. We were so filled with grief and anger at our loss that we never contacted him. All these years later, I want so much to comfort him and acknowledge his loss. Sgt. Dick Coughlin, found my mother and me after 30 yrs. of searching. Dick is the sgt. that Marty was administering aid to when he was hit and killed. Finding us helped bring Dick "home" and ended years of guilt and suffering. He is my "big brother" now, but we both have lots of room in hearts and lives for another brother.
