If we can find fellow workers, U.S. contacts, to verify his service record with U.S. forces, or find old military depot records of employment, he'll be able to bring his children to U.S. without the 5 to 7 year wait in sponsoring through regular immigration channels. Message is: I was a pen pal of Les Smith's mostly during 1969 & 1970. I don't remember his unit or exactly where he served but he was in country during the TET offensive. He was wounded in the back at one point but returned after spending time in the hospital. He was originally from Gary, Indiana where his father was a VP at a steel mill. I spoke to Les by phone once in 1970 and once again in 1971 after he returned home. He was very hurt over personal events that had taken place in his family and I lost contact with him. I have never stopped thinking about Les. If you know where he is, please ask him to contact me. I would just like to know if he's doing alright.
