My husband should be proud to be a Vietnam Vet and I want to help him with his memories. He has told me that he did loose numerous friends as a result of that war. Any help would be greatly appreciated, unfortunately I know very little because he never would talk about it until recently. All I do know is that he served with 101 Airborne Screaming Eagles and that he was awarded some medal that he never received.

Message is: richard was with the 1st brigade and killed in a battle near tuy hoa. i have located his mother but she has now passed away. i would like to talk to any person that knows richard or was in that battle. we served together in the 3rd brigade but me being "short" he was assigned to the 1st brigade so as to bring it up to its quota. the 1st landed in july 1965 and traveled all over nam. he had come home with me before shippiong out and i just want to know about the battle and other battles richard was in. thanks.

Message is: Supposedly this Vietnam Veteran was considered to be homeless and once worked or stayed at the Veterans Hospital in Leeds, MA Info on him as follows: Carl Briggs, Staff Sargeant, Service/Social Security No. 047 44 8987. Believed to be from the Conn. As the story goes, he followed his girlfriend out to the West Coast where he died, was cremated and his ashes returned to the girlfriends mother's home. It seems he died about a year ago and rather than merely have the ashes stand on a mantle, the girls mother worked with a Nam vet and asked him if his unit, Chapter #219, couldn't conduct some kind of a ceremony. They have one planned for this coming March 29th and asked if I could check in the WWW and/or Internet to possible obtain some information to verify the fact that Carl Briggs was a Vietnam Veteran. Our chapter has heard many horror stories where certain individuals claimed to be be Nam Veterans whereas they were never in Vietnam, and even possibly moved to Canada on a temp. basis until the War (police action, or whatever they ended up calling it) was over.
